I also created a mobile version for this project and posted some of the screenshots in a separate post on this website at http://monigarr.tumblr.com
I used Adobe CS5 PhotoShop and Illustrator to design the graphic elements to follow industry standards. The book titled ‘Sexy Web Design’ and my instructors at Full Sail University guided me through this project.

Psychologists introduced a new mainstream medical disorder they call Facebook addiction disorder (FAD). People afflicted with FAD feel the need to use Facebook over and over again to spend increasingly more time on the social network. According to EasternDrugs.com, signing in to Facebook 3 times per day is cause for alarm and signing in more than 5 times per day is bordering on addiction.
Many Internet marketers, small business owners, and entrepreneurs use the Internet and Social Networks to promote and conduct their business online. Social Networks such as Facebook have even replaced email communications for many.
Alienation from the real world and real human beings can happen to people that spend long hours on the Internet. The cliché imagery of computer geeks often portrays the effects of a person that lacks human communication skills. Facebook walls become the whole world and the most important activity for addicts.
The social life and personal interactions in the real world often stop and are replaced with unrealistic virtual relationships for Facebook addicts. Don’t forget that Facebook is still an awesome tool for keeping families and friends in touch and communicating even when they can not see each other in person. Receiving a Video Call in Facebook from a friend or family member that is far away is always such a nice way to stay in touch. – especially during the holiday seaon!
Social Networking Addiction Signs:
- Career has nothing to do with Social Networking, yet they are on Facebook during work hours, after work hours, and during all free time.
- Spending more than an hour average on Facebook.
- Work is being affected negatively.
- Anxiety & stress when away from Facebook.
- Trying to reestablish contact with past friends on Facebook.
- Sleep deprivation as a result of spending the night on Facebook.
Step away from the Social Networks:
- Wean yourself. Limit your login & update your social network status only 1 time per day.
- Limit yourself to only 5 minutes per day to review your messages and wall posts.
- Use a kitchen timer with a loud bell, set it to only 5 minutes. Use only 5 minutes per day to login, update your status, and review your social network messages and wall.
- Turn off Facebook email notifications.
- Remove Facebook off your mobile device and phone.
- When you get the urge to use your phone to update your status, share a photo, video – DON’T! Look at the human beings around you and make the choice to just enjoy the gift of their presence with you. Make some awesome memories with the human beings around you, look in their eye when talking with them and give them your full attention – without a computer screen, cell phone, or camera between you.
Facebook Statistics:
- 400 Million people log in every day.
- Average age group is 35.
- 60 million status updates are posted daily.
- 3 billion + photos uploaded daily.
- 14 million + videos uploaded per month.
- 5 billion + content posts per week.
- 3.5 million events created per month.
- 45 million + active user groups.
- 70% of users are from outside USA.
- Mobile users are 50% more addictive.
- 25 comments posted per month from the average user.
With statistics showing that more than 400 million people log in to Facebook every day, it’s no wonder that entrepreneurs have found Facebook a valuable networking, marketing, and advertising tool.
